Emilia Marie Vaughn (born February 6, 2004) is an American pop singer and songwriter. She launched her independent label, Emilia Vaughn Entertainment and Media Group, LLC, in 2021 with support from her family and artist development partners Thomas Barsoe and Dani N Thompson. Vaughn is known for her singles, including “Pieces and Pages,” “Sunflower,” “French Film,” “Dead Bouquets,” “Watch the Moon,” and her debut EP “eighteen.”[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Emilia Vaughn was born on February 6th, 2004, in San Diego, CA, to her parents, Ted and Licia Vaughn. Both of her parents are artistically creative. Licia comes from a family of artists and writers and enjoys drawing, painting, reading, and writing; Ted is a talented musician and vocalist, who now runs an agency focused on helping non-profits build their brand and culture.[4][5] Bethany plays flute and enjoys drawing, writing, listening to music, and creating family playlists. This led to a creative upbringing for Emilia, who loves creating art, writing poetry and lyrics, and writing and producing music. In the fall of 2021, Emilia launched her independent record label, Emilia Vaughn Entertainment and Media Group, with the support of her family and artist development partners Thomas Barsoe of OC Hit and Dani N Thompson of DNT Entertainment.[6][7][8]

Emilia attended Canyon Crest Academy in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego, California, for high school, graduating with honors, and started at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, in January of 2023, having earned a partial scholarship.[7]

Vaughn took music classes at Rockademy in Solana Beach and later became a part of a recording studio, OC Hit.[6][9]

Career

Vaughn started her career in December 2021 after launching her independent label, Emilia Vaughn Entertainment and Media Group, with the support of artist development partners Thomas Barsoe of OC Hit and Dani N Thompson of DNT Entertainment.

She produced her first EP, recorded at an Orange County, California studio called OC Hit. The EP consists of five songs, including “Pieces and Pages,” “Sunflower,” “Sleep on It,” “Missed my Flight,” and “Whore.” From October 2022 to July 2023, Vaughn released three additional singles, including “French Film,” “Dead Bouquets,” and “Watch the Moon.”[2][10]

Vaughn’s first live performance was at the NOLA Conference at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 26th and 27th, 2021, where she performed her original songs, “Missed My Flight,” “Sunflower,” “Pieces and Pages” and “Sleep on It.”[6]

She is donating 50% of streaming proceeds for her song, “Sunflower,” the national flower of Ukraine, to two non-profit charities, World Central Kitchen and Friends of Moldova – Ukraine Refugee Relief Effort, to help Ukrainian refugees.[6]

Vaughn’s music video for “Sunflower,” directed by Dani N Thompson, has been featured on AXS TV, MTV Spankin' New, Clear TV, and Nickelodeon. Her debut on What's in Store retail charts at #58 with her single Sunflower peaked at #41. “Sunflower” charted on the Mediabase Activator Charts in the Top 40 genre with a chart entry at #81 in April of 2023. She has peaked at #40 on the Top 40 Mediabase Activator Charts with “Sunflower,” peaked at #75 on the iTunes Charts in the Top 40 genre, and #4 on Amazon Movers and Shakers Chart. In June 2023, “Sunflower” entered the Hot AC Mediabase Activator Chart at #50 and peaked at #47 the week of July 12, 2023. She performed “Sunflower” live at the AmeriCheer Open Nationals in Hershey, PA, in April of 2023.[1][4]

Emilia’s single, “French Film,” charted on the What’s in Store retail charts in November of 2022. The supporting music video has aired on MTV Live, MTV Spankin New, MTV Latin America, MTV SUR, LA-TV, Clear TV, DEC TV, California Music Channel, Video Hits, Woven Media, Gloss Media, and Video Jams in the spring of 2023.[11]

Emilia Vaughn’s single “Watch the Moon” charted on the iTunes charts in the Alternative genre the week of release on July 7, 2023, with a peak position of #17.[2]

Emilia Vaughn has been featured in several music publications, local newspapers, and podcasts, including the San Diego Union-Tribune, Del Mar Times, Chicago Music Guide, We Write About Music,  Celebmix, Bong Mines Entertainment, and On Air with Mario Lopez.[12]

Personal life

Emilia Vaughn loves fashion and art, and her drawings have been showcased in her album artwork and merchandise. Aside from her hobbies, Emilia loves her two dogs (Newman – a Vizsla – and Spencer – a Golden Doodle) and her guinea pig (Boba) and is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, protection for women and children globally, global humanitarian aid, and supporting loving homes for domesticated animals.[7][3]
