Elernate,an infamous Roblox hacker,one found a vulnerability in Roblox's testing websites and started 'The Roblox 2012 April Fools Incident'.

Hacking

Elernate started by logging in an admins account on SiteTest3 and using the .ROBLOSECURITY he got from the SiteTest3 website and used it to log in to the admins account on the main website. Also, people by the names of Minish and Merely were fighting over Roblox money and its economy. A user then named Caleb244 took over Minish's account and purchased Merely's favourite item-The Domino Crown. Shortly after,both accounts were terminated and Merely would leave Roblox prior to his ban. Soon after,they took over Pheedy's and are17's accounts using the admin panel and were promoted to moderators to unban Minish.^[1] 1dev2,a popular person for creating Welcome to the town of Robloxia was also compromised and his account terminated but his ban was not lifted and his game was uncopylocked.

Assets

They also uploaded the c: face into the avatar shop for 100 robux (roughly $1.25) on the official Roblox account and only Stickmasterluke bought it and anyone else who bought it got an error message. 'hai guize derp' was also uploaded on the Roblox account and it is still accessible on the Roblox website. The c: texture is also saved on the Roblox website aswell. Other accounts involved in the hacking

DracoSwordMaster - (under control of Austin5555) Main culprit who compromised most accounts. His termination is unknown though.

Qman1245- Obtained the Dominus Empyreus, Domino Crown, Ban Hammer, and the Admin Badge. His account was later terminated

Rippinz- Released multiple items during this incident

Misteroe- Laundered 100K to 500K Robux during this incident

Mattmlm11- Was given items but later removed from him

ScorpioPilot - Beamed and then termed for 6 years+

ReeseMcBlox- Compromised and then the hackers wrote disturbing and inappropriate comments on her account. She couldn't access her account until after the incident,an admin unbanned her

RobloTim- Compromised Ellernate and soon he got termed a month after the incident (early May 2012)

McNoobster- Involved in the hacker banners

Sirloin- Beamed and used by Caleb244

Dignity - Beamed and later termed but unbanned by one of his friends

Roblox's Response

They took the website offline on the evening of April 1st and went online a day after(morning of April 2).Rollbacks only occurred in 0.01% of accounts,the "c:" item was changed to Dr. Smyth Face and they did a blog post on April 2nd about the whole incident. The END
