About

edit

Elephant Castle is the musical project led by seasoned artist, Phil Danyew, who previously spent six years on touring with the band Foster The People before leaving to pursue his own music.[1]. Characterized by retro-inspired indie rock and psychedelic undertones, Elephant Castle pays homage to the golden age of analog recording, embracing vintage techniques - like the use of analog gear and tape machines - and layered vocals to channel the spirit of 60s music [2].

Elephant Castle's first single, Cool To Be Unhappy released on March 27, 2020, was called "a fresh take on the break-up ballad" by Rolling Stone Magazine[3]

In 2021, Elephant Castle released four more singles, including French Food, a cheeky daydream about fine dining after living in isolation for a year [4]. The track was featured in season two of Apple TV’s The Morning Show.

Quicksand, their inaugural release of 2022, has been hailed as a "dreamscape that feels like a retro trip through Southern California’s trippy garage rock glory days of yours but composed and recorded for ultra-fine, HD 4K modern-day audiophile consumption" [5] by Get Some Magazine.
