Eleodor Focșeneanu (b. February 17, 1925, Câmpina – d. April 22, 2015, Bucharest) was a Romanian jurist, lawyer and man of letters, member of the Bucharest bar, translator and researcher with concerns in the field of constitutional law.
In 1992, around the time of the adoption of the then Constitution, he published a series of newspaper articles in the România Liberă newspaper, in which he thoroughly argued, on legal grounds, the fact that the republican form of government could not be imposed arbitrarily, through a simple political decision without consulting the nation.
In his work "The Constitutional History of Romania", published in two editions (with successive additions and additions) at Humanitas Publishing House (1992 and 1998) and in a third edition (exclusively in electronic format) at Google Books, 2008, Eleodor Focșeneanu makes (among others) the rigorous legal demonstration, based on certain documents, of the constitutional abuses from the communist period and the substantive irregularities in the constitutional regime after the Romanian Revolution of 1989: the 1991 Constitution that never entered into force (not being published in "Monitorul Oficial"), abuses of the property regime, contradictions in the texts, etc.
Eleodor Focșeneanu was also the first lawyer of His Majesty King Mihai I after the Romanian Revolution of 1989.
In 2008, Master Eleodor Focșeneanu was awarded the Cross of the Royal House of Romania.
