Subject :- Matter of Objection Petition against Eco-Sensitive Zone to be established around Gir National Park & Sanctuary issued by Government of India.

• This notification is not in the regional language of the people of the villages to be affected by this notification. • There are several discrepancies in this declaration regarding ecozone latitude and ecozone distance. • The committee constituted for the ecozone has never attempted to know the concerns of the locals by visiting the affected villages. • Implementation of this notification will make administrative process of people with forest department very complicated and expensive. • Shifting of Collector's powers to the Forest Department will eliminate revenue functions for the farmer. • Monopolization of forest department will increase their harassment towards local people/farmers. • Chances of corruption in the approval process with the Forest Department will increase and the farmers will be harassed permanently. • Local people will be deprived of the benefits of tourism, so the problem of employment will become serious. • Farmers will be economically backward, so that horticulture becomes dangerous if farmers are financially affected. And if horticulture is lost, the environment will suffer. • This notification will hinder the overall development of our village, and will affect the employment of the people as well as the constitutional fundamental rights of the people. • Farmers as well as local people are demanding that the ecozone should be canceled completely.

For the above mentioned as well as other reasons we present our objection petition to you.
