ECOintention is a method to improve the life energy of nature reserves and companies. The method was developed by the Center for ECOintention and has been used since the beginning of the 21st century.

Theoretical starting points edit

ECOintention's theory is based on two central concepts: energy and information. ECOintention understands 'energy' as 'life energy', following cultural ontologies that presuppose the existence of life energy in all phenomena under terms such as 'ch'i', 'prana' and 'mana', or 'subtle energy'. ECOintention considers 'energy' as the basis of all phenomena and argues that this is in line with modern scientific insights such as quantum mechanics, which confirms the existence of immeasurable forms of energy - including zero-point energy.

Concerning the second concept, 'information', ECOintention assumes that all phenomena - both physical things and organizations - have an information field. This field is seen as a script for the natural development of the phenomenon in question. In this they follow the theories about 'morphic fields' of the British biologist Rupert Sheldrake, and the systemic approach of the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger, which assumes the existence of a ‘knowing field’.

In the philosophy of ECOintention, information structures life energy, connects with it and gives direction to this energy. ECOintention calls the product of this compound ‘formative force’. The 'formative force' is seen as operating within an individual phenomenon, but also in interaction with formative forces of other phenomena, including past and future.

According to ECOintention, every nature reserve and every company is connected to its future and to the energy and information from the past through formative force. When undesirable events have taken place in the past, ECOintention sees this as 'burdened' energy and information, which hinders or blocks the development towards a desired future for an area or company. In the same view, such obstacles are also caused by problems in the current world as a result of climate change, increasing high-frequency radiation, electrosmog, etc. However, according to ECOintention, the obstacles can be removed by cleaning and transforming all this burdened energy, in other words: by bringing energy back into balance ('rebalancing’). AS a consequence, the flow is restored, which results in 'healthier' lands and businesses. This is the core of ECOintention's working method. Part of the method is a training programme to perceive, interpret, and improve energy. The progamme is based on the premise that every person is capable of these skills, if provided with basic information and training. The training is based on intersubjective perception and intuition.

Results edit

Since around 2000, it is estimated that more than a thousand so-called 'projects' have been rebalanced with ECOintention. These projects varied in scale from small gardens to thousands of hectares of nature reserve and from sole proprietorships to global companies.

As far as known, the effects of the rebalancing processes have not been externally investigated. However, the Center for ECOintention itself did study the results of the trajectories in two periods, from 2005 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2016. The second study was conducted among eighty clients of study projects, carried out by fourth-year students at the ECOintention vocational training. In each process, data was collected at 4 moments about the financial, economic and personal situation of the client and the company or area. In addition, the energetic parameters were recorded. At the end of each rebalancing trajectory, all parameters had reached their target value. According to ECOintention, this means that the energy system of each project was completely coherent and 'in flow', without any energetical burden, which was an important condition for goal achievement. Clients also reported that they experienced improvement in almost all areas examined: increased relaxation, self-confidence and health, better goal achievement, improved organization and communication, and expansion of production and financial resources.

Similarities with other theories edit

ECOintention has an affinity with a wide range of spiritual traditions and practices. The foundations are, among others, borrowed from theosophy and anthroposophy. The practices fall within the domain of what is referred to in religious studies as 'Earth Mysteries'.[1]. They show similarities with the geomantic and Earth Healing practices of Marco Pogacnik[2][3][4], and modern management theories such as Otto Scharmer's Theory U[5] and Spiral Dynamics of Don Edward Beck and Christopher C. Cowan[6]

Background of ECOintention edit

ECOintention was developed by Hans Andeweg MSc and Rijk Bols. Both worked at the Institute for Resonance Therapy (IRT) in Germany, which closed its doors in 2001. This institute was founded by naturopath Irene Lütz and Dr. Marion Countess of Ginant. The resonance therapy they developed (for damaged natural areas) was developed in the 1920s at Stanford University in California, just like the (medical) bioresonance - which was inspired by radionics. Both radionics and resonance therapy mainly used radionic devices. ECOintention built on the principles of resonance, but instead of devices, it developed 'energetic' means such as colours, crystals, homeopathy, etc. Another difference with its predecessors was that ECOintention intensively involves the guardians of the projects in the rebalancing process. This method, initially under the name ECOtherapy, was started in the Netherlands in 2000[7]. In 2015 they switched to the name ECOintention. The method is applied by the Center for ECOintention in many rebalancing projects worldwide (approx. 100 per year[8]). The Center also provides training, including a four-year vocational training and an MSc study[9]
