Lei Fang, originally from Poyang, a town in southeastern China, pursued his early education in Wuhan University, where he earned his Bachelor's (2003) and Master's degrees (2006). He then moved to the United States to continue his academic journey, achieving a PhD from Northwestern University in 2010. After completing his doctoral studies, Lei Fang dedicated two and a half years to postdoctoral research at Stanford University. In 2013, Lei Fang joined Texas A&M University as an assistant professor. There, he directs a versatile research team focused on exploring functional organic materials that exhibit electronic, thermal, or photo-activity. The primary aim of his research is to unravel the underlying design principles and the connections between structure and property at both molecular and macroscopic levels. This is achieved through the use of synthetic chemistry and process engineering techniques. Specifically, his team, the Fang Research Group, is deeply engaged in the bottom-up creation and development of ladder polymers and microporous polymer networks. These endeavors are aimed at advancing applications in electronics and energy conversion/storage.[1]
