editThe Dominican University, Ibadan is the first university of the Order of Preachers[9][10] to be established in Africa[11] The Order of Preachers, founded by Dominic de Guzman[12] is known for its active engagement in university education all over the world and the Dominican University Ibadan is one of its offspring. First founded as an institute, the Dominican Institute[13] was an affiliate of the University of Ibadan and awarded bachelor's degree in philosophy and theology. The Dominican University, Ibadan received its license of operation from the National Universities Commission (NUC)[14] on November 2nd, 2016 [15]
