Dhrubo Banerjee (ধ্রুব বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়) is an Indian ad film maker and film director who works out of Kolkata. He is known for box office hits such as Guptodhoner Sandhane(গুপ্তধনের সন্ধানে), Durgeshgarer Guptodhon(দুর্গেশগড়ের গুপ্তধন) and Karnasubarner Guptodhon(কর্ণসুবর্ণের গুপ্তধন).
Having spent the first 20 years of his career in script to screen process in Mumbai and Pune as a senior professional in both live action and animation, presently he works out of Kolkata for both national and regional projects. His maiden web series "Tiktiki"(টিকটিকি) (2022) made for Bengals' most reputed OTT platform Hoichoi (হইচই) has been critically acclaimed while getting major audience appreciation. He was invited in NABC (North American Bengali Conference) 2023 for special screening of Tiktiki at Atlanta City' USA.
Dhrubo Banerjee has successfully created India's first "treasure hunt" franchise. It has become the biggest franchise in Bengali cinema over the last few years, connecting Bengali diaspora across the globe. The adventure franchise highlights the history & heritage of Bengal. Both the second and third film of the franchise "Durgeshgarer Guptodhon" (2019) & "Karnasubarner Guptodhon" (2022) has been highest grossing Bengali films while the first film "Guptodhoner Sandhane" (2018) was the third highest grosser. Dhrubo's period sports film "Golondaaj"(গোলন্দাজ) (2021), with only 50% audience permission, became the second highest grosser for the year.
Personal Life: Dhrubo loves making films. Audience seems to have understood this, and they have loved his films back. An entire generation of youngsters have fondly accepted him as their pied piper, along with their parents and grandparents. He as an accomplished AD film maker has been directing for some of the most reputed brands winning various awards. His project, "Sunlight Tantir Rong" was nominated for "Golden Lion" in Cannes, 2022.
Among his earlier assignments, Dhrubo has been the Creative Head of Reliance Animation in Pune, creating internationally acclaimed contents like "Shaktimaan" (in animation) "Little Krishna" & "Krishna aur Kans". He has also spearheaded the "green lighting committee" for the studio. Dhrubo has served as a Jury member for Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), FICCI Frames Mumbai, New York Film Festival & BANFF Canada to name a few. A management graduate, Dhrubo has worked with Tata International & Zee Alpha Bangla during the initial years of his career.
Upcoming Projects: Dhrubo is presently developing the biggest Bengali film till date "Raghu Dakat"(রঘু ডাকাত), due to go on floors in November'24.
Awards: Winner of state award for "Excellence in Film Making" from Honorable Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, 2019. Filmfare Award for "Best Screenplay" writing for his film "Golondaaj"2022. He has received this year's "Best AD Film Director" for Bengal at ADGully "MAA" Awards.
