Daniel J. Rosen (born October 10, 1973) is a Jewish community leader, public policy advocate, and real estate executive. He is the President of the American Jewish Congress, a New York-based nonprofit organization founded more than 100 years ago by luminaries including Albert Einstein and U.S. Supreme Court Justices Felix Frankfurter and Louis Brandeis.[1]

Biography

Rosen was born in New York City, the son of Jack and Phyllis. He is Jewish. His grandparents were Holocaust survivors immigrating to the United States from Europe after the end of World War II.

Daniel Rosen graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a concentration in Economics. Upon graduating, he accepted a position at The Walt Disney Company and became a Director within the Disney Internet Group.[2]

Rosen is the Chief Executive Officer of Rosen Partners LLC [3], an international real estate development firm involved in residential, commercial, and hotel developments[2] , an international real estate development firm involved in residential, commercial, and hotel developments[2]. In the United States, Rosen Partners, a third-generation firm, develops and manages both residential and commercial properties [4]. Some of their projects include 56 Pine Street [5], 254 Park Avenue South [6] [7], Vela Townhomes [8], 6 Columbus Hotel [9], etc.

Among other ventures, Daniel Rosen has spearheaded Rosen Partners' investments towards Asia [10] [11] [12], including a planned world-class amusement park [13] [14] in Hanoi, Vietnam [15].

American Jewish Congress

Daniel Rosen served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of American Jewish Congress prior to being elected by the Board in 2023 as President of the American Jewish Congress, succeeding his father, who had led the organization for over 25 years.

A committed Jewish and pro-Israel leader, Daniel Rosen has been active in the American Jewish Congress for many years [16]. Due to his involvement and contribution, he was elected and served for two mandates as President of the American Jewish Congress’ New York Metropolitan Region.

Rosen was also a leader of the International Conference of Mayors in Israel, the organization’s flagship event held annually, which brings together prominent mayors and leaders from around the world, creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. He has been active in the organization's efforts to reach out to and engage in dialogue with international partners, and build bridges of cooperation with leaders around the world.[17]

Daniel Rosen has been particularly vocal about the need to combat rising antisemitism in America [18], especially on American college campuses. As a Harvard alumnus, he called on the university to take steps to address antisemitism on its campus, especially after the former president of Harvard resigned in the aftermath of her testimony in front of the United States House Committee on Education and the Workforce. Rosen proposed [19] [20] Republican Senator Mitt Romney as a potential leader that could spearhead the university in light of these challenges, a call that was endorsed [21] [22] by Democratic U.S. Senator John Fetterman [23]. Moreover, Rosen responded [24] to Minouche Shafik, the President of Columbia University, after she published a piece which he believed downplayed the threats facing Jewish students on Columbia's campus.

Social Activism and Engagements

President Joe Biden appointed Rosen in February 2023 to the President’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade.[25] [26]

In 2014, Rosen was appointed by President Barack Obama as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, the Board of Trustees for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.[27]

Among his other varied community involvements, Rosen currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Riverdale Country School[28], having previously served as the Vice Chair of the Board [29], and on the Board of Directors of the Council for World Jewry.

As a grandson of Holocaust survivors, Rosen has also been dedicated to ensuring that the lessons and memories of the Holocaust are passed onto future generations and has spoken on his role as a third-generation survivor on behalf of the Museum of Jewish Heritage as well as in company with Vice President Al Gore at the 50th Commemoration of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising at Madison Square Garden.
