Correspondence is a free and open-source text editor. It is written in C++ and is designed to be used as a tool in Chaos Magic.

Purpose

edit

Correspondence can toggle between sigils or normal text, and will encode and decode selected text in a file. The program makes use of an astrology cipher as a magical alphabet. The application of magical alphabets in chaos magic was described by Peter J. Carroll in his works "Liber Null" and "Psychonaut."

Alphabet

edit

The cipher used in Correspondence assigns specific symbols to each letter of the alphabet, correlating them with astrology. For instance, 'A' corresponds to the Sun symbol (☉), 'B' to the Full Moon (●), and so forth.

By leveraging familiar astrological symbols, the program bridges ancient mystical traditions with contemporary technological interfaces.

The program uses the following pattern of encoding:

A - Sun: ☉
B - Full Moon: ●
C - Waning Moon: ☾
D - Waxing Moon: ☽
E - New Moon: ○
F - Mercury: ☿
G - Venus: ♀
H - Earth: ♁
I - Mars: ♂
J - Jupiter: ♃
K - Saturn: ♄
L - Uranus: ♅
M - Neptune: ♆
N - Pluto: ♇
O - Aries: ♈︎
P - Taurus: ♉︎
Q - Gemini: ♊︎
R - Cancer: ♋︎
S - Leo: ♌︎
T - Virgo: ♍︎
U - Libra: ♎︎
V - Scorpio: ♏︎
W - Sagittarius: ♐︎
X - Capricorn: ♑︎
Y - Aquarius: ♒︎
Z - Pisces: ♓︎
