Comedy Stars is an Indian Malayalam Comedy Reality show which premiered on Asianet channel and Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. The show is hosted by Meera Anil.[1]
The show has three seasons. It aired from 19 December 2009 to 12 November 2022 for 1,618 episodes. It is the longest ran comedy reality show in Malayalam.[2][3]

editVarious teams performs satirical comedy skits based on socially relevant topics, films[4] and television series and programs[5](spoofs) and team getting high scores will get prize money in finale.
Controversies
editThe show landed in a controversy with the second prize winning team alleging 'foul play' in the selection of winners at the show's grand finale of first season.[6] The show also faced several criticism for presenting skits with body shaming and misogynistic contents as jokes.[7] The makers got criticised in an episode where anchor Meera Anil asked some questions to Riyas Salim, Bigg Boss season 4 contestant.[8][9][10]

Production
editThe show ran for about 13 years making it one of the longest ran comedy reality show in Malayalam.The first season aired from 2009 to 2013.The second season aired from 2013.[13] The show undergoes 3 months hiatus due to COVID-19 Pandemic and started airing fresh episodes from 1 July 2020[14] but again stopped due to Pandemic and relaunched on September 2020[15] and ended on 11 April 2021.[16][17] The third season of the show premiered on 2 October 2023[18][19] and ended on 12 November 2022[20] with team Chunks decleared as winners.[21]
