The inaugural event took place on February 17, 2019, in Bishkek, drawing over 2,000 attendees.

History

edit

The Central Asia Game Show debuted on February 17, 2019[1], in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, attracting more than 2,000 participants. Before this event, there had been no large-scale or international gatherings for the GameDev industry in Central Asia. The show was designed to cater to both business (B2B) and consumer (B2C) audiences, making the event accessible to game developers and players alike. The structure of CAGS included a professional conference for game developers, a gaming and gaming device exhibition, and the main highlight — a Central Asian tournament for the game World of Tanks hosted by Wargaming[2][3].

The Central Asia Game Show in 2019 was organized at the request of the game studio Grimwood Team. The design and logo for the conference were created by Yana Lysenko, the Art Director of Grimwood Team.

In 2020, the Central Asia Game Show returned to Bishkek, taking place on February 7 and 8[4][5]. This time, the organizers separated the conference's business program from the Central Asian World of Tanks tournament. The 2020 event attracted over 3,000 visitors[6][7]. The exhibition of games and gaming devices spanned both days of the event. The 2020 conference was divided into three sections: Game Development, Cybersecurity, and E-Commerce[8]. The live broadcast of the Central Asian World of Tanks tournament was watched by more than 50,000 online viewers[9][10][11].

In 2023, the Central Asia Game Show was held on July 6 and 7 as a conference for game developers and an exhibition[12]. The business program of the conference attracted over 1,000 attendees. For the first time, the event featured participation from three technology parks representing Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The developer exhibition showcased over 30 booths from game studios across Central Asia[13][14]. The main topic of CAGS23 was the lack of access to the Google Play Developer Console in the Kyrgyz Republic, which significantly hinders the development of mobile game development in the country[15].
