Catalogic Software, founded in 2013 after the sale of Syncsort's (now Precisely) data protection business[1], is a private company based in Paramus, NJ. Specializing in information management, the firm, led by CEO Ken Barth and President & CFO James Gellert[2], provides enterprise solutions for data protection, including backup, recovery, ransomware protection, and support for Kubernetes and cloud database backup.

In October 2013, Catalogic Software was formed when Syncsort sold its data protection business to an investor group led by Bedford Venture Partners and Windcrest Partners.[3]

On October 29, 2014 Catalogic introduced ECX, an instant copy data management platform.[4]

On June 4, 2018, it was reported that Catalogic Software had taken an equity stake in the European data protection company Storware.[5]

On November 11, 2020 Catalogic introduced CloudCasa, it's all-new backup-as-a-service (BaaS) offering for Kubernetes and cloud native applications.[6]

On May 24, 2021 Catalogic announced that it had sold its ECX copy data management business to IBM for an undisclosed sum.[7]

On July 12, 2022 Catalogic announced DPX GuardMode for early detection of ransomware.[8]

On October 31, 2023 Catalogic announced a self-hosted option for CloudCasa allowing enterprise customers who are unable to use SaaS to install and run their own private instance.[9]
