Cargo was a music venue in Shoreditch, London.

The courtyard of the venue features a Banksy artwork, depicting a uniformed man with a guard dog, next to a sign reading "this wall is a designated graffiti area".[1]

History

edit

In May 2009, Professor Green was attacked with the neck of a broken bottle at the nightclub. His assailant was later convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison.[2]

It closed in December 2021, after its licence was reviewed by Hackney Council, following police concerns about crime they claimed was associated with the venue.[3]

In 2022, the site was taken over by the restaurant and cocktail lounge, The Viaduct, retaining the two Banksy pieces in the courtyard.[4]
