Capella Regalis Choirs is a choir and music education organization based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 2010 by director Nick Halley, the organization encompasses a boys choir, girls choir, and a professional men's choir.[1][2]
Capella Regalis provides a comprehensive music education rooted in the tradition of European church choirs. Their programs are free and open to any child who passes a basic audition.[1][3]

History
editCapella Regalis was established in 2010 in Nova Scotia by Nick Halley, with the aim of building upon the best aspects of the European tradition of church choirs and revitalizing this method of music training in Canada. Initially starting with the boys' choir, the organization later expanded to include a girls' choir and a professional men's choir, incorporating young men with recently changed voices.
Performances
editCapella Regalis maintains an active performance schedule, which includes regular Choral Evensong services at Halifax's Cathedral Church of All Saints as part of the Sundays at Four series.[5] The choir has also toured throughout Nova Scotia and beyond, performing a mix of sacred and secular repertoire from across the Western tradition.[6][7]
Annual highlights include the popular Christmas series "A Chorister's Christmas," and major collaborative productions of works by composers such as J.S. Bach, Handel, Britten, Schütz, and Monteverdi. Notable performances have included Bach's Saint Matthew Passion, Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, and Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610.[8]
In 2023, the choirs performed a concert of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem as the first entry in a new annual concert series titled For all the City. This series is entirely free, and is an outreach initiative intended to bring high level classical music performances to new audience members.[9]
