- Comment: No indication that either the mandate or the list of vehicles made to comply with the mandate is notable. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 00:48, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
In 1990, The California Air Resources Board ruled the Low-Emission Vehicle Mandate (LEV I), which required automakers to manufacture electric vehicles.[1]These are the vehicles that were made to comply with the statement.
Vehicles Made to Comply With the Mandate
editDedicated Electric Vehicles
edit- General Motors EV1, the first EV made to comply with the mandate. However, most examples were disabled or crushed.
- Honda EV Plus, Honda’s electric car. It was also leased to consumers as a fuel-cell vehicle called the FCX.
- TH!NK City, a small 2-door city car manufactured by Ford.
Models Based On Other ICE Vehicles
edit- Chevrolet S-10 EV, based on the Chevrolet S-10/GMC S-15.
- Chrysler TEVan and EPIC, based on the AS and NS generations of the Chrysler Minivans.
- Ford Ranger EV, based on the Ford Ranger.
- Nissan Altra, based on the Nissan R’nessa.
- Toyota RAV4 EV, based on the Toyota RAV4.
End of the LEV I Mandate
editEventually, The California Air Resources Board cancelled the mandate. However, CARB has said that New gas-powered vehicles will be ban from sales after 2035.
