Brandon Hixson (born October 09, 1976) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and pastor.[1][2] He is the worship pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church and known for his singles, including When I Finally Make It Home, What’s In This Love, and Only By His Grace.[3][4][5][6]

Hixson has served as the lead singer and saxophone player for several Christian bands, including Splendorleaf, Godfueled, and Racing Gravity.[3][2][1]

Early life and education edit

Born in Waco, Texas, Hixson received an associate degree of music education from Navarro College in 1998, and then completed his bachelors of music education from East Texas Baptist University in 2001.[4][3][7] Later, he attended Dallas Baptist University in 2011 and received a master of arts in 2018.[6]

While attending Navarro College, Hixson worked as an assistant manager at Brookshire Grocery Company. He then served as a junior high band director at Tatum High School for a year. Between 2003 and 2009, Hixson was the band director at Dawson High School.[1] He then became the music minister at First Baptist Church Cedar Hill. Since 2013, he has been serving as the worship pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church.[4][3][2][7]

Hixson has been playing music since 2000. His compositions Autumn Fall and When I Finally Make It Home both were at number one rank on the WRGG Radio Chart for two weeks in 2018 and 2021, respectively. Between 2000 and 2013, he served as the lead vocalist and saxophone player for Christian bands, including Godfueled, Splendorleaf, and Racing Gravity.[2][4][1]

His singles, The World Is Your Stage and When I Finally Make It Home, also spent two weeks at number one rank on the Christian Radio Music Charts in April and June of 2023. In 2010, his single Only By His Grace was included in the Top Ten list of best compositions selected by the Texas Christian Songwriters Association.[3][7]

Hixson is married to Karen. The couple has two children, Caleb and Caylin, and resides in Ennis, Texas.[4][3][2][7]

Awards and recognitions edit

He has received several music awards, including two Akademia Awards, a Josie Award, and an Independent Music Award. Brandon has shared the stage with notable Christian artists, including Mercy Me, Third Day, Anthony Evans, Love And The Outcome, and Jason Castro.[3][7]
