Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

- Comment: In general, references in trade publications - while fine for sourcing - are considered WP:ROUTINE and don't contribute to demonstration of WP:N. Chetsford (talk) 06:09, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Their own website is not an independent source neither are press releases. The leadership and logo sections are of little interest to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 18:30, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

Boston Proper is a privately owned direct-to-consumer women's clothing and accessories retailer headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, United States. Established in 1992, the company operates as a multichannel brand, offering women's clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories, as well as seasonal and occasion-specific collections. [1][2]
History
edit1991 - 2000
editBrand Name Acquisition
editBoston Proper was initially part of The Mark Group, a resort-based apparel retailer, which was led by CEO Michael Tiernan. The Mark Group, established in 1955 as Mark, Fore & Strike, acquired the Boston Proper brand name in 1992. During this period, the company also expanded by adding Charles Keath, a catalog for gifts and home accessories, to its portfolio.[3]
2001 - 2011
editRebranding to Boston Proper
editDuring the early 2000s, The Mark Group underwent significant changes. In 2003, the company decided to divest in Mark, Fore & Strike and Charles Keath. Subsequently, in 2004, it rebranded itself as Boston Proper and refocused its business model on the Boston Proper brand, prioritizing catalog mailings and e-commerce. [3]
Under this new brand, the company aimed at the affluent, active, 35+ women's demographic. Sheryl Clark, who was promoted to CEO in December 2009, replaced Michael Tiernan.[4]
2012 - 2015
editChico's Acquisition
editChico's FAS, an American women's clothing and accessories retailer, acquired Boston Proper in 2012 for $205 million. [5][6] Post-acquisition, Boston Proper continued to operate as a separate division within Chico's FAS, which also included brands such as Chicos, White House | Black Market and Soma Intimates.
Retail Store Expansion, Closures
editThe company expanded into retail, opening its first store in Estero, Florida, in March 2013, followed by additional stores across the United States.[7][8] However, by late 2015, Boston Proper and Chico's FAS decided to move away from physical stores and eventually part ways, marking a shift towards a digital-focused strategy for Boston Proper.[9]
2016 - Present
editSale to Brentwood Associates
editIn 2016, Brentwood Associates, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles, California, acquired Boston Proper. Under this new ownership, the company continued to emphasize e-commerce and catalog sales, with Sheryl Clark remaining as President.[10][11]
Trademarks
editThe company owns the trademark for the slogan "Wear It Like No One Else."[12]
Sponsorship & Philanthropy
editBoston Proper has been involved in various charitable initiatives. The company participates in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, supporting organizations like Susan B. Komen and The Lynn Institute. Additionally, it has hosted charity fashion shows to benefit the Achievement Centers for Children & Families, a non-profit organization in Delray Beach, Florida.[13][14]
