The second and final season of Bless the Harts premiered on Fox on September 27, 2020 and concluded on June 20, 2021.[1].

Production edit

Following the show's first season, Bless the Harts was renewed for a second season on October 18, 2019.[2][3][4] Produced by Fox Entertainment, 20th Television, and the animation studio Titmouse, Inc., the second season of Bless the Harts was produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the pandemic left animated productions largely unaffected.[5]. On April 1, 2021, Fox announced they would not be ordering anymore episodes. The series concluded with thirty-four episodes on June 20, 2021.

Casting edit

On July 25, 2020, during the San Diego Comic-Con@Home event, writer Andy Bobrow announced that Ken Jeong, Kristen Schaal, and Natasha Lyonne were set to guest star in the new season.[6] Christopher Meloni was cast as Detective Voccola on September 11, 2020, with his character being described as an "explosive, world-weary detective who's sick of it all and has seen it all". His character appeared in the series finale.[7] On September 17, 2020, Ken Jeong participated in a virtual table read raising money for the nonprofit organization Feeding America, in which he revealed he would be playing a new character named Doug on the show.[8][9] The same table read revealed David Herman's return.[10]

In an interview with TheWrap, series creator Emily Spivey announced that Ana Gasteyer had been cast in an undisclosed role.[11] On October 8, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Jon Hamm had been cast to replace Jeremy Rowley as Mayor Webb. Kenan Thompson guest starred as Wayne's friend Travis in the series' last nine episodes.
