• Comment: The reception is mostly based on trivial mentions and coverage from articles not specifically about Bidoof. Even the Vice article is "geeky" in tone and clearly isn't seriously trying to analyze Bidoof's impact on the series, with such commentary as "they also have a very cute butt". Like Mudkip and *insert future goofy-looking meme Pokémon*, there is no indication that its usage as a meme qualifies it for a standalone article as opposed to a "List of Pokémon" entry. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 05:52, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Bidoof (ビッパ, Bippa) is a fictional Pokémon species in the Pokémon franchise. First introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (2006) by Game Freak, it has since appeared in a variety of Pokémon media.[1]

Design and characteristics edit

Bidoof was released as one of 107 generation IV Pokémon in 2006. It was designed by Game Freak's character development team including Ken Sugimori. Despite resembling a beaver, Bidoof is described as the "plump mouse Pokemon".[2] They are known to build dams and lodges, as seen in New Pokémon Snap.[1][3]

Appearances edit

Since its 2006 debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Bidoof has appeared in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, made available through wild encounter. It is also obtainable in Pokémon Black and White, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon Sun and Moon, and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon through other methods.[4]

Appearances in non-mainline Pokemon games include Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, and Pokémon Go. During the release of generation IV Pokemon to Pokemon Go, Bidoof was used as a figure in promoting in-game events, including Bidoof Day on October 22, 2018.[2][5]
