Becktoria is a singer-songwriter and actress based in Los Angeles, California, United States.[1][2][3][4] She has released one album, 2016's Panda Doll, two EPS (2019's Lovers and 2021's Goodbye & Hello) and a number of singles, including "Sigh," "2 Feathers" and "Poisoned by You." Her 2016 collaboration with Ricky Rebel on the single "Boys & Sometimes Girls" was on the Billboard Dance Top 50 for nine weeks, peaking at No. 28.[5][6][1][7] She also made a cameo in the music video for that song.[8]
As an actress she has appeared in numerous movies, television shows, commercials and music videos. She notably appeared in the 2017 music video for "Kill Jill" from Big Boi feat. Killer Mike and Jeezy and the 2015 music video for "Unpredictable" from Celeste Buckingham. She also serves as the main judge on the show The Singer's Choice.[6]
Early Life
editBecktoria was raised in London, England where she was classically trained, sang in choirs and took part in the drama club. She was also in a high school band pop and jazz band.[1][6]
Additionally, she began modeling at the age of 16 and competing in pageants.[1][9][6][10]
She graduated with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and moved to Los Angeles to earn a Masters of Fine Arts degree before pursuing careers as a singer-songwriter and actor.[1][6]
Career
editBecktoria's singles "I Like It Like That," "How Much Did You Love Me," "Sigh," "Lovers" and "2 Feathers" have collectively been streamed millions of times on YouTube.[11]On Soundcoud, her song "Hands to Myself" has been played over 840,000 times, while her cover of Adele's "Water Under the Bridge" has nearly 350,000 plays.[12] She also collaborated with the French group VSO on the song "Be Mine."[13]
Rebel said he discovered Becktoria on Instagram and wanted to collaborate with her on "Boys and Sometimes Girls," feeling she would add "a good flair to add to the video because a lot of women can relate to this song too."[14]
Her acting career includes over 40 credits in films, television shows and music videos, including playing Machiko in the horror movie "Payment Received."[15]
Additional television credits include appearances in "The Real," "Unusual Suspects: Deadly Intent" and Westworld." She also appeared in truTV's "You Can Do Better," the reality show "Food: Fact or Fiction?" and the game show "Funny You Should Ask."[15]
Her music and modeling were both featured in a 2024 Harper's Bazaar article.[1]
