Draft:Basic Conditions of Employment Act, 1997

Is an act that gives provisions for Employment relationships in South Africa. It is flexible to allow employers in different industries and sizes to have mutually beneficial relationships and strick to prevent exploitation of employees.

Provisions such as minimum wage, Leave Conditions, procedures for and procedures for winding down of companies are all provide in the Act.

The Act is governed by contract law. Where there is a breach of the Act or of an employment contract any party can approach the Labour Court or the High Court for the breach since both courts have concurrent jurisdiction over the act.
