Backyard Skateboarding is a sports video game developed by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. It is part of the Backyard Sports franchise and was released on September 27, 2004, for Windows, followed by a release for the Game Boy Advance the following year. The game focuses on a child version of Andy Macdonald and the Backyard Kids entering a contest to win a new Skatepark.[2]
Gameplay
editIn a stark contrast to other Backyard Sports games, the gameplay of Backyard Skateboarding focuses on completing tasks by performing skateboarding stunts, unlocking accessories, new locations, and new players as a result.[3]
Reception
editCommon Sense Media gave Backyard Skateboarding a 4-star rating, stating that while the game lacked educational value, it was "a very fun way to skateboard and never get hurt."[4] The game won the award for Computer Children's Game of the Year.[5]
