Revival by Annapurna and Netflix
editIn April 2025, Annapurna Animation obtained the rights to the book and began developing the film and Annapurna also hired Bruce Zick as executive producer and screenwriter of film since they wanted their own author to be constantly supervising the film, while Reel FX Animation provides animation where Blue Sky left off. Annapurna confirmed Wedge as director and in charge of the project; and also as a screenwriter. Let's remember that he was the one who made the award-winning short film called Bunny and the animated films like Ice Age, Robots, Epic, Monster Trucks, and Foo. And with his experience in past jobs, they trusted him to do a good job, and he had also already directed the film Foo at Annapurna Animation. And Chris also confirmed his lifelong partner who was always a producer on his films that he directed, he is referring to Lori Forte and will work with her again on this film as a producer as in the previous ones, and without forgetting of course Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary as producers as well, who had already worked on previous films such as Nimona (based on the same book), Stray, and Foo. The following scriptwriters were confirmed: first, Mike Rianda; who worked as director and writer on The Mitchells vs. the Machines, it was confirmed that he was the first screenwriter to be called to begin developing the script. then to James V. Hart, who had already worked with Wedge he joined the film Epic as a screenwriter and in this film he works with him again. and finally to Josh Goldsmith, who is known for being the screenwriter of the movie 13 Going on 30.
