Anje Kruger is a businesswoman and investor known for her key roles in the development of Kruger Commodities, a commodity trading e-commerce platform.[1] She pioneered the organization's technological infrastructure, created its multinational expansion strategy and is currently the lead acquisition strategist and senior system engineer for the organization.[2] Anje created Kruger Commodities after discovering a lack of simple infrastructure for business owners to efficiently source and purchase commodities, meaning traditional procurement methods included complex RFQ's and long waiting periods.[3]

She co-founded the platform alongside Cherry-Lee Samson, in an attempt to meet the growing demands of businesses in need of commodities.[4]

Anje has expressed controversial views and has been criticized for misleading statements regarding their business,[5] her real estate portfolio, and is involved in various controversies[6] regarding their social media marketing methods. She has also been involved in mass layoffs and a subsequently related a CCMA arbitration case.[7]

Today, she is known for her involvement in a series of industries including energy, minerals, metals, chemicals, agriculture and textiles at Kruger Commodities.[8]

Other acquisitions include Travel Kruger, an online flight and accommodation booking platform.[9]

By 2023, she lead the Kruger Commodities organization with 84 traders in various roles, at the age of 22.[10]

Anje stated that they will be taking Kruger Commodities public[11] and listing on the South African stock exchanges.[12]

Early life

Anje grew up in the Afrikaans speaking town, Montana, Pretoria and went to school in "Laerskool Wonderboom" as well as "Hoërskool Montana" where she was known as a talented academic student, decorated with over 60 gold medals for her athletic performance, and holds the district record for 80m hurdles (girls under 13) in District 3 of the North Gauteng region. She competed in various debates,[20] speeches and was elected as a prefect[21] 4 times during her school years. She also played netball and launched the girls cricket team in "Laerskool Wonderboom" in 2014.[22]

Both of her parents passed away at a young age. Before their passing, her mother had worked for a company called Levtrade International[23] as a medical rep, and her father operated a brand named SupaBoost.[24]

Anje started working at the age of 15 and started her first business at the age of 16, called Mulberry Blue Media, where she offered outsourced human capital solutions to organizations like Monster, UFC, Old Mutual and Momentum for their exhibitions, golf days and corporate events.[25]The business later on developed to become a digital marketing agency with in-house video production facilities and a content distribution network.[26]

Her first business was a promotions and marketing business called Mulberry Blue Media,[27] which started in 2017, where she offered the service of outsourced human capital for commercial events such as exhibitions, golf days and corporate team building events to companies like Dunlop, Old Mutual and Momentum[28]. The business grew into a media production and distribution house catering to businesses in need of digital marketing.[29]

She briefly joined a real estate agency called Livingroom Property, and used the proceeds to fund Mulberry's expansion.[30]

Thereafter, she founded Kruger Commodities, which was originally named Kruger Diesel and registered on the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission as Kruger Diesel (pty) ltd.[31] Kruger Diesel expanded in the South African market and later on branched out into the United Arab Emirates as Kruger Commodities, a hybrid between an open marketplace tech platform and commodity trading house.[32]

Anje acquired residency for herself and her partner in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where they have established another branch office. [33]

Mulberry Blue Media

Anje founded Mulberry Blue Media in 2017 as her first company, and provided services to South African businesses in need of digital marketing, video production and promotional expertise. [34]

Kruger Diesel

Anje established Kruger Diesel in the midst of the South African energy crisis (which caused the widespread adoption of the use of diesel generators for fuel to avoid load shedding) and her business provided local hospitals, factories, mines and farms with a bulk fuel delivery service for their backup generators.[35]

Kruger Commodities

Kruger Diesel evolved into Kruger Commodities as the influx of orders empowered the founders to expand, and the Kruger Commodities inventory grew.[31]Kruger Commodities adapted to the digital transition and started accepting orders online, while developing into an open marketplace for other vendors to list and benefit from their growing traffic.[33]

Travel Kruger

Anje invested in an online flight and accommodation booking platform which she later acquired alongside her partner, called Travel Kruger.[36]

Kruger Industrial Consultant

Kruger Industrial Consultant is the first foreign branch office owned and operated by Kruger Commodities, and was established in Dubai, UAE on the 23rd of Jule 2023.[37]

Anje is in a relationship with international model[38] turned business owner, Cherry-Lee Samson.[39]The two were introduced by mutual friend and international DJ Candice Redding at Cherry-Lee's 31st birthday soiree.[40]
