Andrew Pohorille

Andrew Pohorille (born May 14, 1949, in Szczecin) – a renowned physicist, [Position and Institution]. He was the only child of Eugenia Gartenberg, a teacher, and Maksynilian Pohorille, a professor of economics at SGPiS.

His parents were the only members of their families who survived the Holocaust. He graduated from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw. His doctoral thesis was written under the supervision of David Shugar, with Włodzimierz Kołos as the reviewer, specializing in biophysics.

He was married to Joanna Sokołowska-Pohorille and had no children. Known for his phenomenal memory, he had broad intellectual interests, including music, painting, literature, and history. He aspired to live a long life, as he was "curious about what would happen.

He died in January 2024.[1]
