Andrew “Andy” Charles Marcel Cooper (born March 23, 1987) is an American lawyer, business executive, and author. He is the head of patent acquisition and a legal coordinator at Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook). Cooper is also the author of The Ethical Imperative: Leading with Conscious to Shape the Future of Business.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
editBorn in Walterboro, South Carolina, to Andrew L. Cooper and Beatrice D. Cooper, Cooper was the youngest of two children. Cooper graduated from Beaufort High School as his class president. He then graduated with a bachelor of arts from The George Washington University and Emory University School of Law with a JD before beginning his legal and business career.
Career
editCooper began his career by joining The Coca-Cola Company as an intellectual property analyst in 2010 while studying at Emory University School of Law. After receiving his law degree, he joined the private law firm Shook Hardy & Bacon as a patent litigator in 2012.
In 2018, Cooper became a lawyer at UPS Airlines and led as vice president of the combined legal, regulatory, and communications department through 2021.[4][5] He also served on the General Counsel Board of Airlines for America and the Board of Cargo Airline Association, participating in the U.S. aviation policy during the pandemic of COVID-19. His legal team at UPS assisted Operation Warp Speed, which was the United States public-private partnership under the Trump administration to deliver over a billion vaccines in response to the global health crisis between 2020 and 2021.
Following United Parcel Service in 2021, Cooper joined Meta Platforms, where he has been serving as the head of patent acquisitions and a legal coordinator since.[6]He has been a member of the board of directors of Allied Security Trust since 2022 and a member of the National Bar Association since 2012. In addition, Cooper has previously served as a visiting adjunct professor of business law at Saint Leo University in 2017.

editCooper published The Ethical Imperative: Leading with Conscious to Shape the Future of Business through John Wiley & Sons on August 15, 2024.[1][2][7] The book was included in Stevo’s Business Book of the Week collection in 2024.[8] He has also written articles for several magazines and journals, including Small Business Journal, UPS Longitudes, LAW360, Patent Copyright Trademark Journal, Bloomberg, and others.
