Amanda Blue Leigh, also known as Amanda Blue, is an American singer,[1] poet, songwriter, and environmental activist.
Early Life & Education
editAmanda Blue Leigh was born in Cape Town and later became an American citizen in the 1980s. [2]
Music Career
editBlue’s music career began in the early 70’s in Cape Town after she joined a local band HAMMAK as a teenager. The band included Anton Fig (from the Late Show with David Letterman). [1] In 1979, Blue formed a band called Spider with Anton Fig and Keith Lentin in New York City. [2] [3] [4] She also sang the original version of "Better Be Good To Me.” In 1990s, she formed a band called Kiss while working with producer Michael Chapman and Gene Simmons. She also collaborated and performed concerts with Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix) and Link Wray. [2]

editA New York Times 2020 article mentioned Blue’s name. AOR magazine voted her 1980’s 21st Best Rock Female Singer worldwide in the UK.[5] [3]
