Adelina Falls is a minor waterfall located in Lawson, NSW in the South Lawson Council Reserve.[1][2] Adelina Falls is located within the South Lawson Waterfall Circuit in the Blue Mountains. The falls can be accessed from the Blue Mountains Rail Line or by car.
Overview
editTowering for several metres along Lawson Creek, Adelina Falls, formerly called Livingstone Falls,[3] is a plunge waterfall located in the South Lawson Park. It is popular with tourists and is accessed from a 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) track from the Northern Carpark.[1][2][3][4]
Aboriginal Owners
editAdelina Falls is on Dharug and Gundungurra Land.[5]
Description
editTo the south-west of Adelina Falls, there is a large canyon with a small waterflow on the base.[2] The base of Adelina Falls has a bit of a orange-tinge due to the erosion of the base, unveiling clay underneath.[1][3][2] There is a bridge, right before the base of the falls, crossing Lawson Creek.[2]
Access
editAccess from the Sydney CBD takes several hours, by following the A44 Parramatta Road, until Granville, to merge on the M4 Western Motorway. This turns into the A32 Great Western Highway. Continue until Lawson, where you turn on Honour Ave, then park at a small carpark.[1] From there, continue on a walking track, ignoring two tracks to the left and right, then turning right, leading to the base of Adelina Falls.[2]
Activities
editPeople can take a small splash in the pool below Adelina Falls, in summer, and photographing is also a great activity in the area.[1][3][2]
