Submission declined on 15 January 2024 by S0091 (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Major Abdi Mohamed Sheikh Hassan, also known as Taliye Suulnuug (born in 1988 in Mogadishu, Somalia), is a Somali military general. He was the commander of the 18th GorGor Brigade of the Somali National Army.
Personal life
editTaliye Suulnuug was born in 1988 in the Buloburde district of the Hiran region.[1] He went to primary school in his hometown of Buloburde and finished high school in Mogadishu. He left behind six children and a wife.[2]
Career
editBefore he joined the armed forces, he was a businessman who worked in cars traveling to the Hiran region and was widely known in his area. Before he joined the army, he had a car that he used to work on.[3] He was very troubled by the Al-Shabaab organization that used to collect taxes from him, which he refused, which later led to a war with them.[4]
In 2013, Taliye Suulnuug led the first Mawislee army established in the Hiran region. For some time, he was one of the leaders of the local army.[5]
In 2014, he joined the forces of the Somali government, especially the Gorgor Commandos. He received his first training at the Turkisom camp in Mogadishu; after that, he did officer training in Turkey.[6] When he returned to the country, the colonel took part in the war against al-Shabaab. He led various operations in the Hiran, Middle Shabelle, Lower Shabelle, Gedo, Galgaduud, and Mudug regions.[7]
Among the things that will be remembered for Taliye Suulnuug are the various battles that he fought al-Shabaab, including those that took place in the Walanweyn area of the Lower Shabelle region,[8] where he was led by the government forces and defended a military camp after a battle that lasted more than six hours, which caused him to be promoted to major. After a tough battle with Al-Shabaab, he was promoted by the former Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble.[9]
Death
editThe commander of the 18th GorGor Brigade of the Somali National Army, Abdi Mohamed Suulnuug, died on January 6, 2024, as a result of a battle that took place on the outskirts of Aad in the south of the Mudug region between the Somali Armed Forces and Al-Shabaab.
