Abass Adigun

Abass Adigun is a legislator (born 28th June 1970) popularly known as 'Agboworin' is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency[1].

He won the seat in 2019 under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), having tried but failed in 2015.[2] Adigun was a retired US Navy officer before joining Nigerian politics, and he is the Vice Chairman, House Committee on Air Force.[3]

He has seven motions and two bills to his credit as part of discharging his duties at the house of representatives. Some of the bills include a motion to improve the welfare conditions for security operatives across the country as a means of ending insurgency and insecurity in Nigeria.

Adigun also moved a motion on the need for Nigeria to make adequate arrangements for a post-oil era. He also solely undertook the construction of a mini-stadium in Oke ‘Badan High School in Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of Oyo State, the very first of such big projects by any federal lawmaker in the state.[4]

Adigun contested in the 2023 Nigerian General Election under PDP for Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency,

but the result of the election has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to irregularities. The body says it will announce a new date for the rerun.[5][6] INEC conducted the Rerun Election on 15 April, 2023 and declared him a winner of the supplementary election into Ibadan North- east/south-east federal constituency of Oyo state.[7]

However, on Monday October, 23rd, 2023 the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, affirmed the election of Abass Adigun of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the House of Representatives for the Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency.[8]
