29 Dates is an upcoming American romance film directed by Richard Wong from a screenplay by Lauren Moon, based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Melissa de la Cruz and produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Gotham Group.

Synopsis edit

After moving to the United States, 16-year-old Korean Jisu Kim struggles with the academic pressure given by her parents as she is set up by them to experience multiple matchmaker dates with men from multiple nationalities and ethnics.[1]

On December 17, 2018, it was reported that Walt Disney Pictures and Gotham Group are developing a film based on Melissa de la Cruz's novel 29 Dates, for Disney's streaming service, Disney+, after Disney acquired the rights to the novel after winning a bidding war with other studios.[2] On February 7, 2020, it was reported that Richard Wong is set to direct the film, with Lauren Moon set to write the screenplay, while Lee Stollman will produce the project.[1]
