The 2023/24 KIJHL season was the 57th in league history, beginning on Friday September 22nd 2023,[1] and ending on April 9th 2024 with the Revelstoke Grizzlies defeating the Fernie Ghostriders 7-1 in game four of the Teck Cup Finals to win there second championship in three years.[2]
Off Season
editOn June 22nd 2023 the KIJHL announced that, along with the other two Junior B leagues in British Columbia, had applied for Junior A status to fill the void in the province's hockey system created by the BCHL becoming an independent league.[3]
The Spokane Braves also made there return to the KI after three seasons due to COVID-19 related issues, primarily involved with crossing the border into Canada to play every other team in the league
Regular Season
editThe regular season began on Friday, September 22nd 2023 with each of the league's 20 teams playing 44 games throughout the course of the season until February 18th 2024
Each teams 44 games were as follows:[3]
- 6 games (24 total) against each team within their division
- 2 games (10 total) against each team in the other division within there conference
- 1 game (10 total) against each team in the other conference
- The Neil Murdoch division visited the Bill Ohlhausen division
- The Eddie Mountain division visited the Doug Birks division
- The Bill Ohlhausen division visited the Eddie Mountain division
- The Doug Birks division visited the Neil Murdoch division

2024 BCHC Prospects game
editThe 2024 BCHC was played at McArthur Park Arena in Kamloops BC, it was the second edition of the games, a showcase for scouts at higher levels to get a good look at the best players from the KIJHL and PJHL with team PJHL winning 5-3.[5]
The coaching staff was announced on October 11th 2023 with Dave Hnatiuk (GFB), Briar McNaney (NEL), and Jiri Novak (REV) named the coaches with Lance Morey (NEL) being named general manager and Brian Burdikin (GFB) being assigned the role of Equipment Manager and Athletic Trainer[6]
