The 1967 U.S. Nationals was a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) professional drag racing event held September 4, 1967 at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Clermont, Indiana.

Top Fuel Dragster

The Top Fuel Dragster field included Mike Snively (driving for Roland Leong), Don Garlits (qualifying #23 in Swamp Rat XI), Jim Warren, Jerry Dawson, Tom "Mongoo$e" McEwen, Mike Sorokin, and top qualifier Chuck Kurzawa (driving for the Ramchargers team).[1]

Dawson lined up against Garlits, who got to the traps first.[4]

In the semi-final, "Mongoose" McEwen faced "Big Daddy" Garlits, and the Mongoose lost.[5]

Top Fuel Funny Car

In the Funny Car final, Doug Thorley (in a Corvair) faced Joe Lunati. Thorley would take the win.[7]

Top Gas

The win in AA/G went to "Ohio George" Montgomery's 427 SOHC-powered 1933 Willys with a pass of 8.92 seconds at 134.32 mph (216.17 km/h).[8]

The BB/G trophy went to Joe Airoso in a Chevrolet-powered 1941 Willys with a 10.48 second pass, hitting the traps at 133.92 mph (215.52 km/h).[9]

Bob Riffle, in the class-dominating Chevrolet-powered Ford Anglia, took B/G with a 10.54 second pass at 128.22 mph (206.35 km/h).[10]

In H/6, Dean Lowery's 1965 VW Type 1 took the win at 12.88 seconds and 96.35 mph (155.06 km/h).[11]

In the Super Stock final, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins in a 1967 Chevrolet faced Bob Brown's 1965 Plymouth; Jenkins would take the win.[12]
