1000 Mexicans (German: 1000 Mexikaner} is a 2016 German television comedy film directed by Philipp Scholz. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Hamburg Film Festival in 2016. The first broadcast took place on November 17, 2016, on German public service broadcaster NDR.[citation needed]
Plot edit
Film production employee Adam is fired for requesting an autograph from a film's star. He is also in trouble for causing an accident with the crew's motor home. In order to raise the money he needs, he asks his friend Lukas to join him as a wedding videographer for another friend Marten. But chaos ensues during the originally strictly regulated shoots. The bride and groom's parents get into an argument, after which Lukas has an affair with one of the bridesmaids. In an outdoor shoot intended to show a marriage proposal, the pony runs away and the bride ends up in the hospital. Lukas manages to locate Marten's missing grandfather in the retirement home and is able to record greetings for the wedding. Police learn the mobile home to be “stolen”, which Lukas described as “borrowed”. Lukas goes back to his old job in the advertising industry where he accidentally learns that Adam was fired simply for seeking an autograph. The two men manage to steal the mobile home back. They drive up to Marten and Mila's wedding and are able to show a video which, to the delight of the guests, shows beautiful shots of the couple and the missing grandpa. They end up receiving tons of new orders.
Criticism edit
“The turbulent debut is bursting with ideas, is implemented with great attention to detail and also delights with tongue-in-cheek guest appearances. This 'buddy movie' pays homage to a form of friendship that is only experienced in the carefree years of youth: the world is a huge adventure playground." -Tittelbach.tv[1]
Awards edit
Winner of the 2017 Audience Award in the Best Film (Bester Spielfilm) category at the Selb Film Festival.[2]
