Đặng Quân Thụy (born 1928) is a Lieutenant General of the Vietnam People's Army. Former Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Vice Chairman of the 9th Vietnam National Assembly, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Committee, Hero of the People's Armed Forces
Biography
Lieutenant General Đặng Quân Thụy was born in 1928 in Hanh Thien village, Xuan Hong commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province.
He joined the revolution and joined the army in 1944. During the resistance war against the French, he was a Company Commissar.
In 1958, he was Deputy Head of the Chemistry Department of the Department of Military Training, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
In 1964, he was Head of the Chemistry Department of the Southern Liberation Army Command.
In 1968, he was Deputy Head of the Operations Department, directly in charge of the forward operations agency of the Southern Liberation Army.
In 1974, he was Director of the Department of Chemistry, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
In September 1977, he was Commander and Secretary of the Chemical Corps Party Committee. He was awarded the rank of Major General in 1984
In March 1986, he held the position of Deputy, then Commander of Military Region II. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in 1989
He is a member of the 7th Party Central Committee, a National Assembly delegate of the 8th and 9th terms. He belongs to the Vinh Phuc delegation.
He is Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Committee of the 9th National Assembly.
