Projects edit

Entrepreneurship at the ECG edit

École de Commerce et de Gestion – Promotion of entrepreneurial spirit

Since the conclusion of the "Entrepreneurial Schools" agreement with the "Ministry of National Education" and the "Ministry of the Economy" in 2016, the stimulation of he entrepreneurial spirit has become a central priority at ECG.

Since the start of the 2017 school year, 4th and 3rd grade classes have actively participated in the challenges presented as part of the European "Youth Start Challenges" program.

The establishment project, which began its main phase at the start of the 2018 school year, explicitly aims to encourage "any initiative taken", whether in the economic, cultural or social field. The ECG has already obtained official certification as an 'Entrepreneurial School', and its main objective remains to become the reference school for entrepreneurship.

Ongoing and upcoming entrepreneurial activities include:

  • The creation of a new sector focused on entrepreneurship
  • The establishment of “challenges” specific to ECG, practical challenges for students as part of their teaching
  • The establishment of business schools
  • The development of social entrepreneurship[1]

Youth Start Challenges edit

As a subscriber to the “Entrepreneurial Schools” convention in 2016, the ECG takes part in the “Youth Start Challenges” program. This international challenge program, developed by Professor Johannes Lindner, currently offers "around forty challenges" that can be implemented from primary school level to the upper cycle of secondary education. The ECG mainly participates in this program in 4th grade classes. The proposed challenges encompass both "the economic and non-economic domains", thus encouraging the involvement of the entire school community.[2]

Mini-businesses edit

The “mini-businesses” constitute an initiative supervised by the “JEL”, offering students the opportunity to “create their own business by selling a real product or service” throughout the school year. As part of this process, students engage in stock sales, develop a business plan, handle accounting, and handle marketing and sales aspects related to their product or service. The objective of this program is twofold: on the one hand, to “strengthen the theoretical knowledge” of students in the field of business management, and on the other hand, to promote entrepreneurship and the sense of initiative in general.[3]

Jobfair and internship scholarship edit

Jobfair Every year, the ECG orientation unit organizes the JOBFAIR, a traditional meeting between 2nd year students and the professional world. The objective of this event is to facilitate the orientation process by allowing students to meet professionals from various sectors of the Luxembourg economy, both commercial and non-commercial. In small groups, students have the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers. Students can select three sectors from around ten areas offered. In most cases, the workshops are led by professionals from various professions. For example, a legal workshop could bring together a judge, a lawyer and a bailiff. The orientation team takes into account the sectors requested by students during a survey carried out at the start of the school year. Frequently represented fields include banking, insurance, legal, fiduciary, education/social, communication, journalism, business creation and real estate. Internship scholarship To respond to the frequent demand from companies and institutions who wish to come to the ECG in order to offer internships or jobs, the school organizes at the start of each year of study its "BTS end-of-study internship scholarship ". Interested companies and institutions have access to a table and the space necessary to display a “roll-up”. Students in BTS Management Assistant, BTS Accounting and Tax Manager, as well as those in BTS Manager in Commerce and Marketing have the opportunity to discuss with representatives of the companies and institutions present. They can also submit, if applicable, their CV and a cover letter.[4]

Project Treedom edit

The École de Commerce et de Gestion - School of Business and Management recently launched an innovative project aimed at promoting sustainable development goals and obtaining certification as a “Sustainable Entrepreneurial School”. As part of this initiative, the school gave new students in 4GCM and 3CN classes a planting card, allowing them to plant a tree of their choice remotely. This collaboration is carried out in partnership with the company Treedom. Between 2022 and 2028, the school is committed to planting around 1,400 trees. This initiative aims not only to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, but also to support local populations in their productive activities. The ECG forest symbolizes our growing commitment to sustainable development.[5]
