Çayelispor, also known as Smart Holding A.Ş.Çayeli Spor[1] due to sponsorship, is a sports club established in 1949 within the Çayeli district of Rize province. The club is currently competing in the Turkish Regional Amateur League.
History
editÇayelispor was promoted to the TFF Third League in the 1986–1987 season, marking its inaugural entry into professional league competition. However, during the 1993–1994 season, the club ranked 12th in the TFF Third League Group 2, resulting in relegation to the amateur division.[4] Following a successful campaign culminating in winning the Rize 1st Amateur League championship in the 2011–2012 season, Çayelispor secured promotion to the Turkish Regional Amateur League by defeating Ardeşenspor 3-1 in the play-out match.[5][6] The club commenced competing in the Turkish Regional Amateur League in the 2012–2013 season. In its inaugural season, despite a strong performance, Çayelispor narrowly missed out on promotion to the TFF Third League, finishing in 2nd place, 6 points behind Düzyurtspor.[7]
