K. Devi Vara Prasad (6 December 1943 – 10 December 2010) was an Indian film producer known for his work in Telugu cinema. He was associated with several successful films under his production banner, Devi Films.[1]

Early life and career

Devi Vara Prasad was born on 6 December 1943 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He entered the film industry with the encouragement of N. T. Rama Rao (NTR). His father, Tirupathayya, was a close associate of NTR, and Prasad was a partner in three of NTR's films. Initially, Prasad worked with NTR, producing films such as Katha Nayakuni Katha, K.D. Number 1, Tiruguleni Manishi, and Na Desam.[2]

Following NTR's entry into politics, Prasad began collaborating with Chiranjeevi, producing several successful films including Kondaveeti Donga, Manchi Donga, and the blockbuster Gharana Mogudu, which is considered one of Chiranjeevi's top hits. He also produced the successful film Alluda Majaka.[3][4] However, his later venture, Mrugaraju, directed by Gunasekhar, was a failure. His final film, Bhajantree, did not achieve the expected success, leading to financial losses and deteriorating health.

Devi Vara Prasad suffered from liver-related ailments and diabetes. He was admitted to KIMS Hospital, where he passed away on 10 December 2010.[5]
