edit

Leyble started his political career when he was elected as municipal councilor, serving two terms.

In 2004, he ran as vice mayor and won. He was re-elected in 2007.

On January 6, 2009, he sworn in office as he took over the city's top post after then-Mayor Victor Sumulong died due to multiple organ failure from diabetes.[1][2]

In 2010, he ran as mayor and won against former Mayor Angelito Gatlabayan. He gained 120,783 votes. [3]

In 2013, he ran again as mayor but lost in a tight elections to then-Governor Casimiro Ynares III. Meanwhile, his running-mate, Councilor Ronaldo "Puto" Leyva won against Ynares' running-mate, re-electionist Susan Garcia-Say.[4]

Shortly after elections, murder complaint was filed against him and other six persons, with alleged assassination attempt against Mayor Ynares and his father, former Rizal Governor Casimiro "Ito" Ynares Jr.[5] After one month, they were cleared of charges due to lack of evidence.[6]

In 2016, he ran as vice mayor, with then-Vice Mayor Leyva as his running-mate. They both lost in the race.[7]

After six years, he participated again in the elections, running as provincial board member under his former political rival's slate.[8] He won unopposed.[9]
