Categorization
editThis article really needs some more sub-categories. More importantly, it needs some guidelines to prevent people from flooding this with every minor website out there, making it impossible to filter out the ones about somebody's cat vs. the ones that actually have "merit". Oberiko 22:00, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I've started sub-categorizing this list, but it's going to take a while to get it all. Ideally we shouldn't have any websites on this main category page. Oberiko 14:08, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
How do I get Category:wiki Category:Wiki communities to become a subcategory of Category:Websites ? Or is there some reason that shouldn't be done ? ... List of wikis ... --DavidCary 15:22, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Re-categorize
editShouldn't this category go under Category:World Wide Web, instead of Category:Internet? Tregoweth 01:27, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC)
- Eh, never mind, I went ahead and did it. If anyone objects too strongly, they can always move it back... Tregoweth 21:34, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC)

What about the idea to use an infobox to summarize the huge amount of information displayed in some articles. The usage will also probably be a help in categorizing the articles about featured websites. The reason to get started in the english version is because of the more easier adaptation and acceptation in other languages. An example of how it could look like:
Comments and suggestions are more than welcome. --Yekezzez 15:08, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- Is "spoken language" the best thing to have there? Most human language on Web sites is written rather than spoken (unless the site hosts podcasts or other multimedia). *Dan T.* 17:21, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Infobox seems like a good idea. possible name could be Template:Infobox Website. Tobias Conradi (Talk) 21:57, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Question
editIs there a subcat for websites' date of establishment, or do we just use "Category:2007 establishments"? Badagnani 21:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
It would be really great if someone would please answer this. Badagnani 08:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

- Yes, we need a Category:Websites established in 2007 and Category:Websites by year of establishment category tree. You can for now use Category:Publications established in 2007 and the Category:Publications by year of establishment category tree.
cleanup
editI created Category:Websites by topic and cleaned up a couple dozen website subcategories that way. There are probably other good ways to sift through the voluminous subcats. --Lquilter (talk) 19:32, 23 December 2007 (UTC) [1]
