Suburbs v towns

edit

At the creation of this category, was there any consideration given to an alternative like Category:Towns of the Hunter Region, New South Wales? I wouldn't consider Gloucester, Foster, Scone or Nabiac to be suburbs. Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 00:11, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The category was created to tidy up Category:Hunter Region, New South Wales by getting these articles of the main category page. Consideration was given to calling it something else but quite a few of these articles are about places that aren't towns. After reviewing other regional categories, most notably those listed on the category page (Category:Suburbs of Lake Macquarie, Category:Suburbs of Maitland, New South Wales, Category:Suburbs of Newcastle, New South Wales and Category:Suburbs of Port Stephens Council), this seemed more consistent with current naming, especially since in NSW almost all places are a suburb of an LGA. The alterantive was to created the underpopulated categories Category:Towns of the Hunter Region, New South Wales, Category:Suburbs of the Hunter Region, New South Wales, Category:Localities of the Hunter Region, New South Wales and possibly another to take in the places that don't fall into any of those. This issue is currently being discussed at my talk page. Any suggestions you have would be very welcome. --AussieLegend (talk) 14:06, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks AussieLegend. I'll take a look at the discussion there and chip in if I need to. Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 23:24, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
