I will re-remove smallpox. Smallpox is not a Eukaryot, and the IUCN red list only deals with Eukaryots (Animalia, Plantae, Fungi and Protistae as stated on there site) so a virus has nothing to do here. --Snelleeddy 23:10, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure this is the right place to comment on this, but wouldn't these lists of species be more useful if they used both common and bionomial names? The list is actually kind of inconsistent that way: some are listed by common, others by scientific (then obviously there are pages in the category that aren't "species extinct in the wild" though they are related pages).
