I've not responded to this before to see if anyone would add any discussions about this:

About Category:Social problems and related categories: This category's scope contains articles about Social problems, which may be a contentious label.

It's fairly obvious that whoever added this knows little about the field of Sociology. The category page itself gives a good definition of social problems. Studies in this area are not done on one individual's whim. It is an actual area of research and teaching.
