Notes edit

I think my Category:Japanese emperors outrank your monarchs. Can I still add it to this category? ;-) Chris 73 | Talk 07:55, 31 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

Of course - and, anyway, we include the Indian Emperor (and Empress) by virtue of British monarchs... :-)

Hmmm... categories are interesting. I think it's clear that not all queens are monarchs, and some monarchs are neither king, queen, empress, nor emperor. My question: are there any Kings that are not monarchs? Deposed ones I suppose, if they still count as kings..any other examples? - Nunh-huh 23:24, 31 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

There are king-consorts, like Francisco of Spain, Fernando II of Portugal, etc. john k 20:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup tag edit

There needs to be a better naming convention for subcategories. Also, given the clutter here, shouldn't there be a "Monarchs by country" subcategory? -- Beland 06:29, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

A mess edit

It is a total mess that there is a Category:Kings and a Category:Monarchs. Surely this can be dealt with. john k 20:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category:Kings has since been nominated for merging several times, but retained each time. Partly because there are emirs, emperors, etc. -- Beland (talk) 17:02, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
