Specials vs episodes edit

What is policy regarding whether to have a list of "specials", a list of "episodes" or a list of "episodes and specials" regarding holiday-themed ones? Wasn't there different ones for British ones for a while? Did those get merged?

All I can figure is that an 'episode' is part of a larger series whereas a 'special' might exist on its own and not be counted as part of a series.

In which case I think there are a lot of 'episodes' on the 'specials' articles.

Then again I can also perceive an episode in a series being called a special so it's kinda confusing.

Should we juts use 'special' for everything and avoid 'episode' sub-categorization?

Also how many examples do we need for a List of Valentine's Day specials article? The "Love Hurts" in Supernatural (season 11) is Valentine-themed and so was the earlier one where they met Cupid. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 15:59, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
