Unambiguous naming of the Bluebirds is tricky, so I intend to list these as wikitext on the cat. page first, even though they'll just be redlinks. We can expand individuals later.

List / category distinction is awkward, but having the explicit list stated here does have advantages:

  • It shows the structure of boats / which Campbell / year
  • It lists the redlinks, of which there are a number still needed.
  • It is not harmful. What is a demonstrable advantage of deleting the list?

Bluebird Garage? edit

Does Bluebird Garage really belong in this category? The article makes no mention of any connection to the Bluebird record breaking vehicles. sjwk (talk) 00:05, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Campbell's family business, and where the cars were frequently worked upon. Andy Dingley (talk) 08:51, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks for the clarification. Do you think the Bluebird Garage article needs to say that? That would sound a lot more historically and culturally significant than a brief mention of Bluebird Motor Company, again with no Campbells, and a lengthier section about its role as a Sainsbury's... I'd be happy to do a bit of digging and see what I could find but it sounds as though you already know more about it! sjwk (talk) 21:33, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The article definitely belongs in the "group", but whether the group can be represented as MediaWiki category(s) or what that category should be named is harder. I couldn't say I'm happy with this, I just can't think of anything better. The articles themselves are largely poor anyway (I'm amazed by this, and I wrote several of them) The whole Campbell saga still supports its own publishing industry, but Wikipedia has failed to generate much at all. Any effort you can offer to improve any of them would be most welcome. Andy Dingley (talk) 07:48, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Move information edit

Since category pages are not intended to be articles, I recommend that the encyclopedic content is moved to a new article -- such as List of Bluebird record-breaking vehicles where it can be developed as the main article for the category. --mervyn (talk) 19:16, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Now fixed - see List of Bluebird record-breaking vehicles. --mervyn (talk) 19:02, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
