Proposal : Broaden this category to "Bitcoin companies"
I just noticed this, due to removals; perhaps too late now, as the discussion was archived, with one other person replying "agree". :-)
Chris Arnesen, you removed most companies saying "there's no consensus on how to draw the line around Bitcoin 'exchange'". There are gray areas, but I don't recall any questions about a service being an exchange that failed to reach consensus, and "Bitcoin company" seems even hazier. The action underway is to just have a single category "Bitcoin" without need to decide between template listing vs category listing, exchange vs not. Chris Arnesen03:10, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
"Bitcoin" is the category name? A bitcoin exchange certainly isn't a bitcoin. :-) WP:CAT has some guidance on names. WP:CLN's suggests not sweating cat/list/template duplication. Agyle (talk) 08:54, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
"Bitcoin" is a Wikipedia:Topic_category#Topic_category. While the duplication of lists might have been the thing that finally prompted me to consolidate the categories, the main factors were that the distinction "exchange" isn't a clear one, and also that there simply aren't yet enough topics in the Bitcoin space do require sub-categorization.
