Withdrawn speedy rename discussion
edit- Category:Accountancy occupations to Category:Accounting occupations – C2C per Category:Accounting. Marcocapelle (talk) 19:29, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose-ish. I'm not sure if this is a WP:ENGVAR thing, but to this Brit's mind the profession is accountancy, whereas accounting is what is done by someone in the accountancy profession. That's why accountants are not called accountists. Certainly my Shorter OED tends to that interpretation. So to my mind it doesn't quite make sense to talk of accounting occupations - in the employment world the term to use is accountancy. I guess the underlying problem is that (to British eyes at least) the parent category is trying to cover two different things that are sometimes conflated, the profession and the process. I'm trying to think of equivalents where the distinction is more obvious - we tend to have education categories not teaching which is perhaps comparable. As I say, I don't know if this is an ENGVAR thing. Le Deluge (talk) 20:11, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
